Dad lost his mind* recently and decided he needed his own boat to get across to the cottage.
Fortuitously, Marvin the
martian marvelous just so happened to be selling his old pontoon boat. This really is the ideal boat for Mum and Dad because there's no big step down for Mum from the dock into the boat. Heck, you could practically roll a wheelchair onto it if you had a board to transition the gap from dock to deck. It's big. It's stable. It maneuvers like a bus. But it carries
lots of junk (oh, boy, do we have lots of junk) and the kids love to perch on the chairs out front and whoop and holler as we're embarking.
R also likes when the fish finder goes "bing bing bing!". He hollers, "There's good fishing here!"
The new boat means we're going to need to upgrade the dock a bit. Dad's thinking of adding another bay so our dock would be U-shaped, rather than L-shaped. I think that's the grand plan for the coming long weekend.
*yes, this implies that there was mind left to lose. That is always a debatable subject around my house.
